City of Wilmington officials’ involvement in a meeting Friday in Washington, D.C., is another hopeful indicator that additional federal assistance could be coming to help Clinton County and this region of southwest Ohio through the current economic crisis. Wilmington Mayor David Raizk, who attended the meeting along with Laura Curliss, his executive assistant, deserves praise for communicating this area’s continued need of federal assistance in light of the announced departure of DHL from the air park and the effect of the severe recession on other local businesses. U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown also deserves thanks for organizing the meeting and for his ongoing efforts to secure federal assistance.
