WASHINGTON — The Ohio congressional delegation is asking the Justice Department to investigate whether a proposal by DHL to change package handlers from ABX Air to UPS violates federal antitrust laws.

In a letter to Attorney General Michael B. Mukasey dated June 5, the delegation, led by U.S. Rep. Mike Turner, argues the consolidation of UPS and Emery Worldwide in 2005 as well as the DHL acquisition of Airborne Express, coupled with a proposed new agreement between DHL and UPS "could have a detrimental impact to the US market, as well as local economies in Ohio, who have relied on these companies for jobs."
