An Ohio senator is calling for a federal investigation into bank walkaways - the practice of lenders' abandoning properties after they file foreclosure actions.

In a letter sent to the Government Accountability Office on Wednesday, U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) asked the non-partisan watchdog agency to determine how prevalent the practice of abandoning foreclosed properties is and what impact the orphaned properties are having on neighborhoods and cities.
