A bill sponsored by U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D., Ohio) to support survivors of human trafficking received approval by the Republican-controlled Senate Judiciary committee Thursday.

The next step for Mr. Brown’s bill is a vote in the full Senate, although it could also end up folded into related legislation that is making its way through Congress.
