Members of the Northeast Ohio congressional delegation are asking the Defense Department to make sure 100 or more jobs that are headed for Indianapolis should be coming instead to the Defense Finance and Accounting Service center in Cleveland.

U.S. Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones, D-Cleveland, has sent a letter to Secretary of Defense Robert Gates asking him to clarify the status of at least 100 DFAS employees now located in Kansas City and Denver.

Under the Base Realignment and Closure Act of 2005, Defense Department jobs in Kansas City, Denver and elsewhere were to be transferred to the Cleveland DFAS operation. About 800 DFAS accountants and payroll clerks already have made the move and more are expected over the next several years.
