Ohio Sen. Sherrod Brown on Tuesday will visit Toledo to tout legislation to increase investment and support for child welfare.
He will hold a press conference at 11 a.m. at the Lucas County Children’s Services Training Building, 705 Adams St. He will be joined by Robin Reese, director of Lucas County Children Services, to talk about increased strain on Ohio counties to care for children because of the addiction epidemic.
The visit is part of a tour to discuss legislation called the Family First Transition and Support Act, which he said aims to provide resources to recruit and retain foster parents, invest in child welfare caseworker training, and expand funding for support services like child care and transportation.
