U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown this afternoon will unveil a bill mandating that insurance companies pay for the costs of routine care for cancer patients enrolled in clinical trials.
The Ohio Democrat’s initiative mirrors a House bill co-authored by a bipartisan group of lawmakers, including Rep. Deborah Pryce, R-Upper Arlington.
Brown is holding a news conference later today at the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital at Ohio State University to discuss his legislation, which he says is designed to ease the financial burden of undergoing experimental cancer treatment.
