WASHINGTON -- In the aftermath of the deadly Charlottesville white supremacist protest, U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown wants the FBI to disclose any domestic terrorist or hate groups operating in Ohio.

He also wants to know about any related investigations since January 2015.

Brown, an Ohio Democrat, noted in his letter Tuesday to FBI Director Christopher Wray that a 20-year-old man from Maumee, James Alex Fields Jr., has been charged in the death of a woman mowed down during the Charlottesville protests Aug. 12. Authorities said Fields, reported to have Nazi sympathies, plowed his Dodge Challenger into a street filled with counter-protesters during a weekend in which neo-Nazis and white supremacists marched on the college town.
