CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Saying that schools districts and families "deserve answers as to what happened to their money," Sen. Sherrod Brown on Thursday asked the Federal Trade Commission and local U.S. Attorney Justin Herdman to investigate Discovery Tours, the company that booked long-distance, out-of-state field trips for Ohio students.
Brown said the FTC and Justice Department should determine whether Discovery Tours broke any laws and "ensure there are proper consequences for the company cheating hardworking parents out of their money."
The Ohio Attorney General's office and the Geauga and Summit county prosecutors have said they also are investigating Discovery Tours, which last week canceled pre-paid trips for several schools around the state.
