U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Avon Lake, made his case for health-care reform to a packed room Tuesday followed by an emotional and lively debate.
At times, the audience reaction was boisterous but never out of control, and Brown attempted to answer most questions and defend his views as time constraints allowed.
Brown outlined the basics of the Senate bill that he helped to write as a member of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee. He explained what he views as its major benefits, stating the bill will cut health-care costs for families and small businesses, preserve choices of providers and insurers, ensure access to quality and affordable care, and protect individuals with pre-existing conditions.
