MANSFIELD -- U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, will be in town today to tour the latest additions to the Mansfield Air National Guard Base.

He plans to visit the new Armed Forces Reserve Center and Rapid Engineer Deployable Heavy Operational Squadron Engineers (Red Horse) facility. Brown -- who will be joined by Col. John C. Harris, the assistant adjutant general of the Ohio National Guard -- also will view the 179th Airlift Wing's new C-27J aircraft.

Brown helped secure funding for the construction of the new Red Horse facility, which supports the administration, operations, logistics and training of a 200-member, self-sustaining heavy construction unit. The Armed Forces Reserve Center is used for administrative, storage and training purposes, and also houses the 3rd Platoon of the 486th Engineers.
