Senate passes hope for the post office


DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) -  Wth a local mail processing plant and as many as 400 jobs on the chopping block, Congressional plans for the post office are watched closely here in the Miami Valley.

The U.S. Senate passed legislation Wednesday that could save thousands of jobs, temporarily retain Saturday service and keep open 100 mail processing plants. But it is not clear if the Fifth Street facility is one that would be saved.

Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown approved the bill, while Senator Rob Portman voted no on the postal reform bill.
