TOLEDO, OH - Every year more than 1,000 children become victims of human trafficking in Ohio. Experts say Toledo ranks as one of the top five places in the country for those crimes to occur, which is why Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown is calling for new funding and resources to combat human trafficking in northwest Ohio.

He initiated the justice for Victims of Trafficking Act, recently signed into law. Senator Brown says he got the idea for legislation when Toledoans approached him about the need for additional resources in the field.

Along with others, Senator Brown held a roundtable discussion Monday to talk about the issue and solicit federal funding to move forward and target the problem here in Northwest Ohio.
