he Sheffield Township Fire Department was awarded $31,540 by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency Assistance to Firefighters Grants program.

The grant will be used to improve preparedness and response, according to Sen. Sherrod Brown’s office.

Brown’s press secretary Allison Preiss said that the grants are competitively awarded.

“The grant decisions are made by FEMA and the grant comes from FEMA,” Preiss said. “They decide who’s going to get the awards and the amount.”
