Some lawmakers go to Congress to pass bills. Some go to block bills they don't like. Regardless of their motives, Sherrod Brown, a Democrat, has sponsored nearly twice as many bills, resolutions or amendments in the U.S. Senate this term as his Republican counterpart, George Voinovich, according to a Library of Congress database.

Brown has sponsored 42 bills, eight resolutions, and 45 amendments since January 2007 -- 95 measures total. He announced a new bill today, pushing for much more clean energy development, that isn't listed yet.
