U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown met with nurses at Affinity Medical Center Thursday morning to offer his support as the nurses union prepares for its first bargaining session with hospital administration.

Registered nurse Amy Pulley said Brown understands the importance of safe, quality care for patients and supports the efforts of the union.

Nurses unionized more than a year ago seeking improved patient care and safety, and to establish guidelines for staff-to-patient ratios.

“We want to give nurses a voice,” Pulley said.
