At least 57 U.S. senators from both parties support the proposed Webb-Hagel bill, known as the new GI Bill of Rights. It would provide funding for Ohio veterans to obtain a college education at in-state rates. No other proposed legislation goes that far, or makes as great a promise to our veterans.

Under current practices, the military pays only part of the cost of tuition for higher education for returning service personnel. Service members who were recruited on the promise of payment of existing education debts have found the principal only was paid, leaving them with thousands of dollars of interest to be paid.
