Teen treks to D.C. for hospital aid

WASHINGTON -- None of the members of Congress surrounding Jacob Brown could immediately tell last week that this 15-year-old from Crooksville, Ohio, doesn't have kidneys.

Nor do they know the teenager goes through nine hours of dialysis a night.

Jacob's hardships aren't something he dwells on. He would rather tell a joke or talk about Ohio State football.

But yesterday and Wednesday, Jacob met with seven Ohio lawmakers on Capitol Hill as part of a campaign mounted by children's hospitals around the country. Included in those meetings were his own representative, Democrat Zack Space of Dover, and Rep. David L. Hobson, R-Springfield, whose district stretches almost to Jacob's home near Zanesville.
