On April 15, Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) and ten other Senators sent a letter to fellow Senators Kerry (D-MA), Graham (R-SC) and Lieberman (I-CT), urging them to include specific measures in their bipartisan climate and clean energy bill that will strengthen American manufacturers' competitiveness in the global clean energy economy.

These Senators are concerned about two issues related to manufacturing: the need to help American manufacturers retool in order to expand into clean energy markets and the need to protect American manufacturers from unfair competition against manufacturers located in countries that may not adopt greenhouse gas emissions measures similar to those being considered in the U.S.
