Priorities of Sen. Sherrod Brown and Rob Portman regarding Lake Erie have been signed into law by President Donald Trump as part of a package.

A joint release from the senators indicates that the 2019 Energy and Water, Legislative Branch and Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Act this year, in addition to prohibiting the Army Corps of Engineers from dumping toxic material dredged from the Cuyahoga River shipping channel into Lake Erie without approval from the state, also this year requires the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to "make every effort to release" the Brandon Road study by early next year.

The aforementioned study began in 2015 and focuses on the invasive Asian Carp species that threaten tourism and fishing industries, and the effort to keep them out of the Great Lakes.
