U.S. Sen. Brown pushes bill to fight neighborhood decay

Erie County could get about $943,000 to renovate homes and demolish abandoned houses if a bill being debated in the U.S. Senate goes into effect.

The money would be Erie County's share of about $4 billion that would be distributed nationally to help local governments fight neighborhood decay, according to U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio. That fund is part of an $11 billion foreclosure bill, the Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008, which Brown supports.
