A crowd of more than 250 people welcomed U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown at this week’s Hancock-Wood Electric Cooperative, Inc. (HWEC) Annual Legislative Meeting. Hancock-Wood is a major non-profit power provider in the Findlay and Hancock County area.
HWEC CEO and President George Walton, who invited the senator to speak, said, “Senator Brown serves as Chairman of the Subcommittee on Jobs, Rural Economic Growth and Energy Innovation. Those initiatives are at the forefront of our current interests.” HWEC is one of the first Ohio electric cooperatives to secure a U.S. Senator as a keynote speaker.
In his address to members of both HWEC and the Action Committee for Rural Electrification (ACRE), Senator Brown said, “I appreciate the way that you rural cooperatives take care of your communities the way that you do - day by day, week by week - it really is what makes [energy delivery] work around Ohio.”
