United Steel Workers union representatives traveled to Norway last week to take their case directly to the corporate management for the locked out workers at the Kongsberg facility in Van Wert.
They came away from the meeting very disappointed.
"He's (Kongsberg CEO Olav Volldal) fully aware of everything they're doing back here," said Judy Grubb of USW 1-524. "They're doing it on his orders."
USW representatives and Kongsberg employees had been under the impression that Volldal had not been told all of the events that were taking place in the Van Wert labor impasse. After discovering that he was not only fully aware of the situation but had orchestrated it, from their perspective, hopes of resolving the issue were dealt a frustrating blow.
