WASHINGTON, D.C. – As workers in Ohio and across the county participate in “Fight for $15” Day tomorrow to urge elected officials to support higher wages and better benefits, U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) reinforced his support for several bills that would benefit American workers and the middle class.
“Supporting American workers through higher wages and good benefits can benefit families and boost our economy,” said Brown. “Every worker deserves to earn a living wage – enough to put food on the table, a roof over their head, and gas in the car. But too many Americans work hard but struggle each day just to get by. We’ve got to increase wages to address income inequality, close the gender wage gap, and give more workers the opportunity to achieve financial security and join our middle class.”
“Fight for $15” Day on April 15 is a national day of action by service workers, child care providers, homecare providers, and airport workers who are advocating for $15 an hour and the right to form a union without retaliation.
Brown supports better wages and benefits for all American workers including legislation to ensure equal pay for equal work, grant paid sick leave for workers, protect pregnant workers from discrimination, and increase the minimum wage.
