WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Senate today authorized and appropriated $3.3 million in federal funding for Camp Ravenna Joint Military Training Center in the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) and the Fiscal Year (FY) 2016 Military Construction and Veterans Affairs and Related Agencies Appropriations Act.  The NDAA is now headed to the President’s desk for signature. U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) urged the Senate Armed Services Committee and the Senate Appropriations Committee to include this funding for Camp Ravenna.‎

“Investing in state-of-the-art training facilities for our National Guard helps to prepare these men and women for future missions,” said Brown. “Camp Ravenna will now be able to upgrade its facilities so that our citizen-soldiers have the best possible training facilities and are equipped to serve.”

The funding would help make improvements to the Camp’s indoor firing range facility. This range is used to train and test soldiers against stationary targets for day and night qualifications with their service rifles. The funds would help improve the existing training for both overseas contingency operations as well as routine preparedness.
