WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) today announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Rural Development program has awarded a $1,500,000 loan to Hebron Workforce Housing Alliance to build 50 affordable rental housing units. Forty-seven of these units will be reserved for tenants with an income that is 60 percent or less of the area median income (AMI) and 3 of these units will be reserved for tenants with an income that is 30 percent or less of AMI.

“Every Ohioan should have access to safe, affordable housing,” Brown said. "This federal investment will help put that goal in reach of more Licking County families."

Brown is a member of the Senate Agriculture Committee and, in 2014, he was part of the Senate Farm Bill Conference Committee that successfully negotiated a five-year farm bill that had been stalled for more than three years. Brown supported a strong Rural Development title in the 2014 Farm Bill to encourage economic development in rural communities. Brown is also ranking member of the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs, which oversees USDA’s Rural Housing Service.
