WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) today announced that the Fiscal Year (FY) 2016 omnibus appropriations bill includes approximately $508 million in funding for the Abrams Tank and approximately $1.1 billion for the Stryker Vehicle – critical work is done on both vehicles at Lima’s Joint Systems Manufacturing Center. Brown supported the President’s budget request for both Abrams and Stryker and wrote a letter to leaders of the Senate Armed Services and Appropriations committees in May in support of increasing the lethality of Stryker combat vehicles.

“The skilled workers at Lima’s Joint Systems Manufacturing Center will continue to produce the highest quality military vehicles,” Brown said. “Our servicemembers deserve equipment that is second-to-none and this funding ensures that workers in Lima will continue to build it for them.”

Brown has been a longtime champion of the JSMC and has worked over the years with Senate colleagues on the Armed Services and Appropriations, and the Department of Defense leadership to promote the work done at Lima.
