WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced that the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has awarded a $50,000 Community Facilities grant to the Delaware Valley Joint Fire District to purchase a new fire pumper truck. The USDA is also awarding a $170,000 Community Facilities loan to finance these purchases, bringing the total USDA funds available to $220,000. This equipment will help Delaware Valley maintain roads and ensure the safety of Tuscarawas County residents.
“Ohio firefighters and first-responders work every day to protect our families,” said Brown. “This investment will ensure that the Delaware Valley Joint Fire District has the resources it needs to keep Tuscarawas County residents safe.”
The funds for this purchase are a part of the USDA’s Rural Development initiative. Brown helped secure a strong Rural Development title in the 2014 Farm Bill, and is continuing to advocate for Rural Development programs in the 2018 Farm Bill.
