WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has awarded the Village of Arcanum a $2,500,000 Community Facilities loan to construct a new facility that will house the Village of Arcanum's Police Department. This new facility will replace the village’s current building and will include upgrades that improve accessibility, safety and health standards.

“This investment will ensure the Village of Arcanum has the resources it needs to keep Darke County residents safe,” said Brown.

These funds are a part of the USDA’s Community Facilities Direct Loan & Grant Program, which provides affordable funding to develop essential community facilities in rural areas. The program helps rural small towns, cities and communities make infrastructure improvements and provide essential facilities such as schools, libraries, courthouses, public safety facilities, hospitals, colleges and daycare centers.

Brown has been a leader for Ohio’s rural communities, fighting to secure a strong Rural Development title in the recently passed 2018 Farm Bill and the 2014 Farm Bill. He is the first Ohioan to serve on the Senate Agriculture Committee in more than 50 years.
