WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) today announced $350,000 in federal funds to invest in Vinton County Drug Court (VCDC). The funds, allocated through the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) Drug Court Discretionary Grant Program, will be used to screen, access, and admit all appropriate adult non-violent, substance abuse related offenders into treatment programs.
“This investment will provide Vinton County with the resources to assist residents who are struggling with addiction,” Brown said. “It’s critical that local justice systems are supported in their efforts to provide much needed services.”
The Drug Court Discretionary Grant Program provides grants to develop and implement services that effectively integrate substance abuse treatment, mandatory drug testing, and transitional services.
