WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced that the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has awarded Heidelberg University a $36,500,000 Rural Development loan for campus improvements and upgrades. The funds for this project will go toward the construction of a new student welcome center, student housing facilities and classroom renovations and expansions. USDA is also providing a $1.5 million Community Facilities loan to help fund the project.

“These funds will help ensure Heidelberg University has the tools and resources to equip students with the skills and knowledge needed to advance their careers,” said Brown. “This investment will not only support faculty and students, but it lead to more jobs and economic growth in Tiffin and the surrounding area.”

The funds for this project are a part of the USDA’s Rural Development initiative. Brown helped secure a strong Rural Development title in the 2014 Farm Bill, and is continuing to advocate for Rural Development programs in the 2018 Farm Bill.
