Brown Announces $48,000 for Police Vehicle in Belmont County

Funding Will Go toward New Police Vehicle

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced that the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has awarded a $24,000 Community Facilities grant to the Village of Powhatan Point to purchase a new police vehicle. The USDA is also awarding a $24,000 Community Facilities loan to finance the purchase, bringing the total USDA funds available to $48,000.

“Ohio police officers and first-responders work every day to protect our families,” said Brown. “This investment will ensure that the Powhatan Point Police Department has the resources it needs to keep Belmont County residents safe.”

The funds for this purchase are a part of the USDA’s Rural Development initiative. Brown helped secure a strong Rural Development title in the 2014 Farm Bill, and is continuing to advocate for Rural Development programs in the 2018 Farm Bill.
