WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) today announced that the Fiscal Year (FY) 2016 omnibus appropriations bill includes $6,623,000 to replace Wright-Patterson Air Force Base’s (WPAFB) Kittyhawk satellite pharmacy. At Brown’s urging, the funds were authorized in the FY 2016 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) which was signed by the President in November.

“This funding will ensure that Ohio Airmen continue to receive the high quality healthcare they deserve,” Brown said. “Replacing the outdated pharmacy facility has been a top priority of mine this year and will ensure that the Airmen working at the base have the medical resources they need.”

In April 2014, WPAFB reported that a robotic prescription filling equipment error caused Tylenol to be found in Robaxin prescriptions, a muscle relaxant. In addition to updating the robotics equipment to reduce the potential for such errors, the new modern facility would include enough room to facilitate patient counseling.
