Brown Announces $67,000 for Maintenance Equipment in Hopedale Township

Funding Will Go toward New Tractor, Loader, Boom Mover

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced that the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has awarded a $50,000 Community Facilities grant to Augusta Township to purchase a new tractor, loader and boom mower. The USDA is also awarding a $76,000 Community Facilities loan to purchase these vehicles, bringing the total USDA funds available to $126,000.  This equipment will help Augusta Township maintain roads and ensure the safety of more than 1,600 Carroll County residents.

This funding will help to improve infrastructure in rural Ohio communities,” Brown said. “We must ensure that our rural communities like Augusta have the resources needed to improve the everyday lives of their residents.”

The funds for this purchase are a part of the USDA’s Rural Development initiative. Brown helped secure a strong Rural Development title in the 2014 Farm Bill, and is continuing to advocate for Rural Development programs in the 2018 Farm Bill.
