WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced today that the Akron Canton Regional Airport will receive $772,136 for security system improvements. The funds, made available through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), will be released through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
“These funds will bring advanced technologies and new economic development to the Akron Canton Airport,” Brown said. “They will make air travel safer and airport security more efficient.”
The Akron Canton Airport will use the funds to invest in explosive detection systems and advanced technology X-ray units. The system upgrades will streamline baggage screening and enhance security capabilities.
