WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced that the United States Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Federal Aviation Administration (FFA) has awarded two grants to city and county governments in Cuyahoga County totaling $876,425. The funds will be used to help make necessary repairs to airports and their infrastructure.

DOT funds include:

·        $126,425 grant to the City of Cleveland to reconstruct two taxiways to meet Federal Aviation Administration design standards to enhance safety at Cleveland-Hopkins International Airport.

·       $750,000 grant to Cuyahoga County to replace a carrier vehicle with snow removal equipment to allow continued use during snow periods at Cuyahoga County Airport.

“Ohio airports are vital to supporting travel and commerce in the state,” said Brown. “These investments will help to ensure the safety of Cuyahoga County airports for passengers for years to come.”

The FAA supports public-use airports included in the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems (NPIAS) through the Airport Improvement Program. The program supports projects that improve airport safety, capacity, security and environmental impact. More information about the FAA’s Airport Improvement Program can be found here.
