WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced that the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) has awarded a $90,000 grant to the Dennison Railroad Depot Museum (DRDM). The funds will go toward restoring a Pullman car and converting it into an overnight bed and breakfast.

“Investments like these help communities across the Appalachian Region increase tourism, create jobs, and bolster the economy,” said Brown. “I’ll continue to fight to restore funding to the Appalachian Regional Commission, so it can continue its critical support to rural Ohioans.”

ARC supports Ohio and twelve other states across Appalachia to stimulate local economies, provide job training, expand broadband access in rural areas, and support local infrastructure needs. In 2017, after President Trump’s budget proposed eliminating the ARC program entirely, Brown wrote to key leaders on the Senate Appropriations Committee calling for full funding for ARC. Brown has spoken out about the importance of ARC and against any cuts to the program.
