Brown Announces More Than $110,000 for Emergency Vehicle Upgrades in Lakemore Village

Funding Will Go toward New Truck Chassis, Retrofit Components

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced that the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has awarded a $39,000 Community Facilities grant to the Village of Lakemore to purchase equipment for emergency vehicle upgrades, including a new truck chassis and additional components to retrofit an older modular ambulance. The USDA is also awarding a $74,000 Community Facilities loan to finance these purchases, bringing the total USDA funds available to $113,000.

“Ohio first-responders work every day to protect our families,” said Brown. “This investment will ensure the Lakemore Fire Department has the resources it needs to keep Summit County residents safe.”

The funds for this purchase are a part of the USDA’s Rural Development initiative. Brown helped secure a strong Rural Development title in the 2014 Farm Bill, and is continuing to advocate for Rural Development programs in the 2018 Farm Bill.
