WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has awarded $118,446 to Liberty Township Fire Department in Delaware County for Operations and Safety through the Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) program.

“Firefighters and first responders keep our communities safe in times of crisis,” said Brown. “With so many communities facing budget shortfalls, these funds will ensure that Liberty Township’s firefighters have the resources they need to protect families and homes from fire hazards.”

The AFG program helps firefighters and other first responders protect the public and themselves. Projects funded though the Operations and Safety category include training, facility upgrades and modifications, and supplies such as protective equipment. More information about the AFG program can be found here.
