WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) today announced that the National Park Service (NPS), in partnership with the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF), awarded the City of Vermillion $162,500 to extend the Vermilion Beach along Lake Erie. The funds were granted through the LWCF State & Local Assistance Program which helps communities outside of the national park boundaries leverage investment in local parks.
“Ohio’s community parks give Ohioans a safe place to be active outdoors and gather with their neighbors,” said Brown. “This investment will allow even more Ohioans to enjoy Lake Erie.”
This grant to the City of Vermilion will go toward the acquisition of land for the extension of public beach property.
