WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has awarded $1,894,430 to the Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority for upgrades to local airports. Airports receiving grants include the following:

  • Toledo Express Airport: $ 1,696,194 - Funding will go toward the acquisition of a rescue and firefighting vehicle, taxiway rehabilitation and the reconstruction of airfield guidance signs to meet Federal Aviation Administration standards.
  • Toledo Executive Airport: $198,236 - Funding will go toward instillation and repair of runaways, taxiway rehabilitation and the instillation of a runway vertical/visual guidance system, which will make the airport more accessible.

“These Toledo airports support tourism and commerce in Lucas County,” Brown said. “This funding will improve the safety and efficiency of the airport so they can remain reliable options for the county.”
