WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown today announced $195,040 in federal funding for Cuyahoga Community College to recruit, train, and place 40 veterans in public transportation jobs.

“When veterans have served our country with honor and decide to transition to civilian careers, they deserve access to training programs that will lead to jobs,” said Brown. “This grant will give veterans in Cuyahoga County the opportunity to land a good job in the transportation sector. DOT’s efforts to help our veterans find jobs after they return from service should serve as an example to all agencies.”

The funding comes from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Commercial Motor Vehicle Operator Safety Training Grant Program. The Program helps technical and community colleges help train veterans for jobs as commercial bus and truck drivers.
