Brown Announces More Than $2 Million for Community Health Center in Monroe County

Funding Will Go toward New Monroe Family Health Center

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced that the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has awarded a $2,265,000 Community Facilities loan to construct a 12,000 square-foot facility to house the Ohio Hills Health Services’ (OHHS) Monroe Family Health Center (MFHC) in Woodsfield.

“Community Health Centers, like MFHC, play a critical role in keeping our families healthy,” said Brown. “This investment will help MFHC ensure rural Ohioans in the area have access to care that is close to home.

The funds for this new facility are a part of the USDA’s Rural Development initiative. Brown helped secure a strong Rural Development title in the 2014 Farm Bill, and is continuing to advocate for Rural Development programs in the 2018 Farm Bill.
