WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has awarded Allwell Behavioral Health Services a $2,275,000 Community Facilities loan to construct an 11,500 square-foot building that will house addiction treatment services. Allwell Behavioral Health Services is a private, non-profit organization that provides comprehensive community mental health and addiction treatment services throughout central Ohio. This new building will include upgraded treatment areas, space dedicated to telemedicine services and administrative offices, and will help the organization serve nearly 229,000 Ohioans in the surrounding area.

“There isn’t a community in Ohio that hasn’t been touched by the addiction epidemic, and we are doing all we can to fight it,” said Brown. “This investment will increase access to mental health and addiction treatment services in Coshocton County as we continue working to expand treatment options and combat the addiction crisis in Ohio.”

These funds are a part of the USDA’s Community Facilities Direct Loan & Grant Program, which provides affordable funding to develop essential community facilities in rural areas. The program helps rural small towns, cities and communities make infrastructure improvements and provide essential facilities such as schools, libraries, courthouses, public safety facilities, hospitals, colleges and daycare centers.

Brown has been a leader for Ohio’s rural communities, fighting to secure a strong Rural Development title in the recently passed 2018 Farm Bill and the 2014 Farm Bill. He is the first Ohioan to serve on the Senate Agriculture Committee in more than 50 years.
