WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) today announced $22,758 in federal funding for Youngstown State University to analyze and develop a project plan for the Advanced Manufacturing Innovation and Commercialization Center. The Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) awarded the funding.

“Youngstown drives manufacturing innovation and is home to the first manufacturing hub created by my bipartisan bill to bolster our manufacturing network nationwide,” said Brown. “This award will give Youngstown State University resources to play a significant role in Youngstown’s advance manufacturing efforts.”

The project is affiliated with the inter-agency Partnerships for Opportunity and Workforce and Economic Revitalization (POWER) initiative. The POWER Initiative aims to strengthen local economies impacted by the changing coal economy.
