Brown Announces More Than $5 Million for Wayne County Airport

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has awarded $5,030,110 to the Wayne County Commissioners and Wayne County Airport for taxiway construction and reconstruction.

“The Wayne County Airport supports tourism and commerce in Wayne,” Brown said, “This funding will improve the safety and efficiency of the airport so it can remain a reliable option for the county.”

The FAA supports public-use airports included in the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems (NPIAS) through the Airport Improvement Program. The program supports projects that improve airport safety, capacity, security and environmental impact. More information about the FAA’s Airport Improvement Program can be found here.
