WASHINGTON, D.C. –U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) today announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) discretionary grant program has awarded $6,839,860 to the Ohio Department of Transportation’s Transit Tech Ohio project to improve transit service in rural Ohio. Transit Tech Ohio will use Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) to standardize scheduling and dispatch services to close communication gaps between transit bases and transit vehicles.

“Increased investment in Ohio’s infrastructure puts Ohioans to work and makes our roads safer and more efficient,” Brown said. “This project will improve transportation options and increase opportunities for rural Ohio.

TIGER is a competitive grant program that supports road, rail, transit, and port projects that accomplish critical national objectives.
