WASHINGTON, D.C.—U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) today announced that Ohio will receive $84,183,300 in energy efficiency and energy conservation projects. The federal funds, which have been awarded to Ohio from the economic recovery package, will be released as formula grants to municipalities across Ohio.

“Energy costs are breaking the budgets of too many municipalities across Ohio,” said Brown. “These funds will drive new economic activity while making long-term improvements that will help municipalities save on energy costs.”

The funds will come from the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant program, funded by American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The formula grants will be awarded to municipalities so they can improve energy efficiency and reduce consumption and fossil fuel emissions.
