WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) today announced $9,865,000 in funds for the Youngstown Metropolitan Housing Authority’s Briar Hill Annex project. The federal funds, made available through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 and allocated by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), are specifically designated for the creation of energy-efficient public housing developments.

“These funds will help improve energy efficiency in Youngstown, lowering costs and creating clean energy jobs,” Brown said.

Brown is working to position Ohio as the Silicon Valley of Clean Energy Manufacturing. Earlier this year, Brown introduced the Green Energy Production Act to invest in energy-efficient buildings in communities throughout Ohio and the nation
