WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) today announced that the National Park Service (NPS), in partnership with the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF), awarded the City of Hillsboro $90,895 to develop the recreational area surrounding Lake Harmony in Liberty Park. The funds were granted through the LWCF State & Local Assistance Program which helps communities outside of the national park boundaries leverage investment in local parks.
“Ohio’s community parks give Ohioans a safe place to be active outdoors and gather with their neighbors,” said Brown. “This investment is welcome news for all who use Liberty Park.”
This grant to the City of Hillsboro will go toward the development of new recreational trails, a community garden, and a new shelter house along Harmony Lake in Liberty Park.
